Shor in the city movie story

The film was officially selected at the Dubai International Film Festival and Pusan International Film Festival in 2010.
Shor In the City won the award for the Best Director at MIACC in New York. The entire story of Shor in the City takes place in a brief span of 11 days with Mumbai’s Ganesh Chathurthi as its backdrop.

Tilak (Tusshar Kapoor), Mandook (Pitabash Tripathy) and Ramesh (Nikhil Dwivedi) run a business of pirated books. They buy latest best-sellers from bookstores and replicate them to sell in traffic junctions. They’re also thieves. On an ordinary day, they steal a bag from a local train which contains pistols, a gun and an explosive which become a libility for them because they are not smart enough to use arms in their possession to their advantage.

They work for a local bhai (Alok Chaturvedi), who, in turn, serve another small mafia. Tilak is married to Sapna (Radhika Apte) who, as he discovers, is surprisingly ahead of him. She has read Paulo Coelho’s Alchemist much before he even struggles to read it. Tilak’s introduction to Coelho is a life-altering moment in his life, and the scenes in which the writers establish this are infused with sympathy and humour.
